So far so good – works like a charm
So far so good. I got this because another Wahoo chest strap heart rate monitor was intermittently not working. I like the long battery life and price. I paired both ant+ and Bluetooth with both of my wahoo bike computers and TrainerRoad on my Windows 11 PC that I built. I used it tonight in Bluetooth with TrainerRoad and it worked flawlessly. There were no instructions for installing the strap but it was pretty easy to figure out. It came fully charged. The only drawback is it has a proprietary USB-A charging device but all units like this have that. I attached some pictures too

This doesn’t have its own app but it paired with my phone well. It fits on me, but my more muscly hubby can only get it to comfortably fit near the elbow, so might have some fit issues if you have bigger arms. It seems accurate and maintains its Bluetooth connection. The band itself is lightweight and comfortable. The charger snaps to the bag via magnets and the status is clear when charging. It seems to function well over all and provide helpful readings.

The one I got is garbage. It connects to my Garmin bike computer perfectly but powers off after a few minutes. If tried every thing suggest but it never works. Unfortunately I waited beyond the 30 day return window to figure this out.

I had a lot of trouble getting something to connect with this arm band, my limited experience with fitness devices possibly didn't help. The box (which is ridiculously hard to read with dark text on a black background) mentions Android, but my two Android 15 phones wouldn't connect. Actually the error message said the arm band "refused the connection". The box also mentions Garmin, so I created an account and tried the app but the only choice was from a select list of devices and this Chileaf device wasn't on it. I use Zwift with a stationary cycler, I tried it, but it did not detect this device.

What worked for me was the Polar app. I just wanted to easily see my heart rate while on the treadmill without any fancy features, and so far it's doing that well.

The instructions are not particularly clear. It states to "wear the band on the upper portion of the forearm". This seems clear enough, except this is followed by a sketch showing the band worn on a forearm, and worn on an upper arm. I tried it on my upper but it did not work for me, a reading was displayed in the app but it did not vary, at all, with exertion. The forearm position worked reliably well and there is an almost instant response to changes in exertion.

My needs are simple, so pairing this device with Polar works well for me.

Quite impressed with this little monitor! I have POTS so I need to monitor my heart rate almost all the time, especially when I am working, to prevent any medical issues from arising without warning. I compared this monitor armband with several other monitors I have, notably one being a heart rate finger clip and the other an apple watch. This armband was within 5 bpm of the reading from the other equipment that I know to be reliable, so I was pleased about that.

    Pros:
    – Accurate measurements, evidently
    – Broad choice of apps to pair the armband to; paired seamlessly for me with Wahoo
    – Was able to show me constantly updating bpm and other stats during work and workouts without faltering/giving random incorrect readings
    – Nice design, sleek and subtle

    Cons:
    – A bit pricey for what it is, but I guess you pay for accuracy
    – Arm band itself isn't the best material choice, as it absorbs a lot of sweat/rain
    – I found the set up instructions for the band a tad convoluted, but figured it out after a few minutes

This band comes with a charger, but not a charging block. It might benefit from adding a cloth carrying pouch to protect the sensor when not in use. Otherwise, happy with this armband monitor.

This armband heart rate monitor is not bad at all. The heart rate shown in the app seems pretty much in line with what I would expect, comparing it to other HR monitors I have used before, like a chest strap or a smart watch. So from that side of things, it seems to do the job.

Wearing it on the arm is okay, but not perfect. It was a little too small to fit around my biceps, so I had to use it on my forearm instead. That worked, but after a while it does start sliding down, and I kept finding myself pulling it back up. Bit annoying when you are trying to focus on training.

Because of that, I still think chest HR monitors are a little more comfortable overall. They just stay put better for me. This one is easier in some ways, and it connected to the Samsung fitness app without much fuss, which was good.

Overall, it is a decent heart rate monitor and the readings seem believable, but the strap fit and sliding make it less comfortable than a chest monitor for longer sessions. Good if you prefer arm based tracking, just check the fit first.

A comfortable and accurate heart rate monitor

This is a fairly decent heart rate monitor (HRM), but it has a few drawbacks.

Let me start with what I liked about this HRM. Physically, it fits well on my arm and is comfortable to wear. I could wear this for a long run or a lengthy gym session and it wouldn't bother me. For those who don't like wearing sport watches, this unit is a great option to keep track of your heart rate. This can even be worn around all day quite comfortably, which is nice if you are a senior who has to keep a constant eye on your heart rate. This HRM is quite accurate as well. I have a fairly expensive sport watch and this HRM was very close in readings to my sport watch when I wore them at the same time for comparision.

Now, there are a few things that I don't particularly like about this device. The first thing that I found off-putting about this HRM is that it did not have its own app or software to use. I was forced to find a compatible app to run the data collected through. I tried a couple that I did not like before I finally found one that was fairly simple to use. It would be nice if it had its own software/app that would be straight forward and simple to use. I found a few of the apps (while trying them) pretty complex and overwhelming for what I wanted to use the device for. The second issue is why not get an accross the chest HRM if you are already spending the money on one? Although this one is fairly accurate (as are sport watches), an accross the chest HRM is by far the most accurate way to monitor heart rate.

Although I found a few drawbacks, once you find an app you like, the first issue is solved. You may just have to invest some time playing with a few different compatible apps. The second issue is that not everyone may enjoy wearing an across the chest HRM for long periods of time. If an across the chest model seems restricting to you (especially for long periods of wearing it), then this may be a great alternative without sacrificing too much accuracy.

Overall, I am quite happy with this HRM. Although you need your phone to look at the data, you can wear the device away from your phone and check the data at a later time, so there is no need to run or exercise with your phone in your pocket. I would say that this HRM serves a certain type of need, but it does so quite well.
